- Congenital Heart Disorders
- SYMPTOMS. Signs in infancy may be a blue appearance called cyanosis. Later
- signs may include breathlessness, failure to grow properly, abnormal heart
- rate and abnormal heart sounds. Sometimes there is no obvious signs until
- adolescence or adulthood. Through routine medical examination, it may be
- detected earlier.
- CAUSES. In about 8 out of 1000 children, congenital heart disorders are
- present at birth.
- TREATMENT. Electrocardiograph may be used to diagnose the disorder.
- .Surgery is highly successful in most cases.
